Science-fiction sequel's 'Covenant In Utero' lets you snuggle up with a neomorph
The Alien story is coming to virtual reality via Oculus, thanks to a new experience called 'In Utero' produced by Ridley Scott and directed by David Karlak. You'll be able to try it for yourself on April 26.
The movie Alien: Covenant arrives in movie theaters on May 19 and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride. 'In Utero' gives you a sense of what's to come in Covenant, giving you the chance to get up close to the birth of an alien neomorph.
Despite the legacy of Alien spin-off games this will be the first chance to face the creatures in virtual reality, though fans of the game Alien Isolation are begging developers to make a promotional (but never officially released) VR version of the game a fully supported feature.
Don't expect this to be the last piece of virtual reality you see with the movie director's golden touch. Scott's RSA Films just announced it would be adding a virtual reality division to the company. “We have been heavily involved in VR for the past few years, and having a dedicated stand-alone division underscores our commitment to immersive media in both the brand and entertainment space,” RSA Films president Jules Daly told Deadline.
