An Amazon Alexa Easter Egg has gone viral, featuring the Amazon AI replying with a famous Mass Effect quote. Ask it "does this unit have a soul?" and you'll hear Alexa say "Keelah se'lai, my friend."

It's a reference to the Mass Effect 2 and 3 character Legion, a Geth synthetic soldier with a gestalt consciousness who became a fan favorite for anyone who has a soft spot for sad robots.

Now we've got the official, and slightly terrifying, response to the discovery from Aaryn Flynn, GM of the Mass Effect development studio Bioware.

"Oh did you not see that Codex entry about how Alexa was the first generation of AI that would eventually become the Geth?" he says.

"Alexa will remember everything you ask, so be kind to our future robot overlords."

Now we just have to wait and see if Amazon's Alexa makes an appearance in the new Mass Effect: Andromeda, out on March 21.
