There are remakes, and then there are remakes with secret retro features
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap was a 1989 game for the beloved Sega Master System. If you're new to the series you'll fall hard for the hand-drawn beauty of this remake, if you were a fan of the original platformer you can use your old save passwords.
That's right, one of the features of the remake from DotEmu and Lizardcube is the the old password save system, so it's time to raid mom's attic.
Another feature of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is the ability to switch between the modern Disney-esque animations and the 8-bit graphics anytime. The same goes for the soundtrack, you can wallow in nostalgia with the original tunes or switch to the remastered soundtrack on a whim.
The game is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and (gasp) Nintendo Switch.
