The 'King of the Kill' tournament dubbed "Fight for the Crown" will air on April 20
The CW's upcoming "H1Z1: Fight for the Crown" is the first official team-based tournament for Daybreak Studios' hit survival-based mulitplayer shooter H1Z1: King of the Kill. The tournament will be broadcast across six episodes, starting on April 20, 2017 at 10pm EST on The CW Network.
The tournament features 75 of the top players in the world, all of which are being chosen based on how they rank on the Twin Galaxies H1Z1 leaderboard. The 15 teams participating include some of the biggest organizations in the esports world, including Cloud9, Echo Fox, Luminosity and Counterlogic. The total prize pool for the tournament in $300,000, with $180,000 going to the winning team.
Kicking off promotion for the tournament starting this week, five digital episodes that profile the Echo Fox team as they prepare for the event will be available on CW Seed. You can see the first episode of that here (note: you'll need Flash to use CW Seed's player.) This is the organization led by former NBA player Rick Fox and video game industry veteran Jace Hall. This first ten minute episode focuses on the drafting and creation of the team around four core players; Justin “Mini” Summe, Radez “Radek” Pozler, Clement “JerkChicken” Graham and Brian “CBKFlame” Barnabie.
