Every now and then a game comes along that just continues to surprise you the more you play it. Initially, Butterscotch Shenanigans' Crashlands seems like a goofy, funny survival-focused sci-fi adventure about an intergalactic trucker who has her delivery schedule thwarted by a megalomaniacal alien. The deeper you go into its story, the more you come to appreciate that the whole experience has been designed so that a lot of the usually obtrusive mechanical video game management stuff (like sorting your inventory) has been removed so you can enjoy it more. It just gets out of your way as much as it can. Fundamentally it's a game about exploring, battling bad guys, collecting stuff, and then building bases and crafting things so you can progress further through the adventure. If that sounds a bit like Klei's wonderful survival adventure Don't Starve to you, well it does share a lot of similarities. If you get really hooked, you can buy the Windows or Mac version on Steam for $15 and use the same save game across every platform you play it on.
