"I was recruited by a man called Tyranus on one of the moons of Bogden," Jango Fett told Obi-Wan Kenobi in Attack of the Clones. But, as we later learned by experiencing that recruitment ourselves in Bounty Hunter (PS2/GameCube, 2002), those words may have just as easily been spoken by Montross, another Mandalorian and rival to Fett, had history unfolded just a little bit differently.

Having debuted earlier in 2002 thanks to Haden Blackman's Jango Fett: Open Seasons limited series for Dark Horse (Blackman also wrote Bounty Hunter), Montross betrayed the Mandalorians and was banished for killing their leader. Open Seasons illustrates the rivalry between Fett and Montross – they fought on the same side but were never friends – so when their paths crossed on that Bogden moon, the two made no qualms about dueling to the death for the bounty offered by Count Dooku (neither aware of the Sith Lord's true intentions).

Fett won, leaving Montross to be ripped apart by the veritable Force zombies of the Bando Gora cult.
