Star Wars: X-Wing vs TIE Fighter

The popular X-Wing and TIE Fighter space shooters were followed by this, the video game equivalent of the "Why not both?" meme. X-Wing vs TIE Fighter combined the two and focused on the multiplayer, settling playground and barstool arguments about which was better and who would win in a fight. With texture-mapped spaceships and high resolutions graphics, it was worth suffering through the kind of connections we could get on 56k modems for an eight-player space brawl. The Balance of Power expansion even added single-player campaigns for those who missed them.
