Snipperclips – Cut it out, together!

Snipperclips is probably the Switch's biggest surprise. It's a 2D cooperative puzzle game where players take control of two anthropomorphic paper cutouts. When they overlap, you can a press a button to take a chunk out of the other player in the shape of your outline. When my partner had to carry an oversized pencil to a sharpener, I carved out a makeshift bucket down her middle where it could fit. When we had to pop a balloon, she sliced me down to a nasty sharp point and I flung myself into the plastic as hard as I could. The mechanic is cute and kid-friendly, but there is a perverse joy in performing violent, impromptu surgery to solve video game puzzles. We'll see if Snipperclips manages to achieve the same mind-bending satisfaction of Picross or Professor Layton, but at the very least, its core concept is inventive.
