42 Nintendo characters, 48 tracks, double items and driver assist are all packed into the new and improved Switch version
The newly updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is packed with shiny new things and a new trailer from Nintendo shows them off a treat.
The new Switch version of the game is out on April 28 and will feature 42 characters – with five new including Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. – and 48 tracks. Racers can now hold two items at once, key for really messing with your opponents, and there's even a driver assist feature for the small or inexperienced in your racing crew.
What's really exciting though is the new multiplayer features, including the ability to set up 12 player LAN parties with your Switches, and the sexed up Battle Modes. There are five modes, Balloon Battle, Bob-omb Blast, Coin Runners, Shine Thief and the brand new Renegade Roundup.
Renegade Roundup is "one team trying to capture the other and put them into jail before time runs out. The opposing team must try to escape and can break their own teammates out of prison by pressing a button under the jail cell," says Nintendo.
We all know that The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is the first essential purchase for new Switch owners , now it looks like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe could be the second.
