Your daily need to know on releases, rumors and everything that matters – all in one place
All the year's big releases are basically out now, so the overlords of gaming can focus on all that lovely extra content we need to get us through the holidays.
Bloodfall, Doom’s last and latest premium multiplayer DLC, is out today. The update includes three new maps, a new grenade launcher weapon, and the Cultist armor set. If you don't have a season pass for Doom, this extra slice of the pie will cost you $14.99.
There's a new update for Dishonored 2 fans too, and this one is free. It's already out in beta on PC, and everyone else gets it on December 19. It includes a New Game Plus mode that lets you combine both heroes' powers. Want to mix Emily’s Mesmerize with Corvo’s Devouring Swarm? No problem! Another free update is planned for January.
Then, in February, Torment: Tides of Numenera will be released. The game finally has an official date: February 28, coming via a Kickstarter update from InXile Entertainment. "We'll be using our remaining time to polish the game for you up to the last possible moment," says VP of development Chris Keenan.
There's a tiny bit of news from the new Tomb Raider movie set. Walton Goggins (you'd recognize him from Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight) told Yahoo "I think I can say this: for me, it’s like Raiders of the Lost Ark meets a genre version of the Joseph Conrad novel Victory: An Island Tale." He plays the bad guy in the movie, with Alicia Vikander, star of Ex Machina, playing Lara Croft. "There are real reasons behind his antagonism, and it’s not what you’d expect. He is very complicated, and his motivations are pure," says Goggins.
Finally, our adorable obsession Moblets has changed its name to Ooblets. "While we weren’t infringing on any related trademarks with Moblets, there were a few obstacles in the path of registering it as our own trademark, so we figured we’d play it safe and come up with something else that would be easier," says one of its developers, Ben Wasser.
