Gun Media and IllFonic are happy to announce that Friday the 13th: The Game will launch on May 26th, 2017 for Xbox One, PS4 and Steam! pic.twitter.com/PUhm4p0kcf— Friday the 13th Game (@Friday13thGame) April 21, 2017
The game is a multiplayer survival horror experience where up to seven people can play as Camp Crystal Lake counselors while one player controls Voorhees on a murderous rampage. The counsellors have to try and escape the camp while Voorhees has to hunt them down. The developers are huge fans of the series and have obsessed over every detail in the development of the game They've brought the horror movie icon back with the help of Tom Savini (who contributed stunts, make-up and special effects to the original Friday The 13th movies) and Kane Hodder who played Voorhees between 1988 and 2001.
"What you are seeing here is the pure genius of Tom Savini at work. At the end of Friday the 13th Part 9: Jason Goes to Hell, we see Freddy Krueger's glove drag Jason's mask into the depths of hell, but nobody knows what happened next. This model reflects Tom's interpretation of what happened to Jason next," says Gun Media's Ronnie Hobbs.
"Some of the kills were handcrafted from the ground up, while others were ripped directly from the films," Hobbs. "Each kill had to be planned out thoroughly in advance to make sure it would work within the game's environment, and then it was off to the motion capture studio where Kane Hodder would viciously perform the kills on stunt actors until they were perfected. It's a long arduous process, but one that we owe the Friday The 13th fanbase"
