'Castlevania' animated series is coming to the streaming service on July 7
Today we got a first look at the Netflix adaptation of Castlevania, which will arrive on the streaming service in July. It's been written by cult author Warren Ellis and created by Frederator Studios, the home of Adventure Time and Nickelodeon hits like The Fairly OddParents.
The man leading the adaptation is Adi Shankar, best known for his executive producer credit on movies like Pete Travis' Dredd or Liam Neeson wolf-puncher The Grey. He says Castlevania is one of the first games he ever played. "I could literally talk for hours about the aspects of Castlevania that I loved," he says. Back in February he also made the promise "I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the western world’s first good video game adaptation."
Shankar has also made a name for himself with movie shorts like Dirty Laundry, James Bond In Service Of Nothing and a 2015 Power Rangers short that starred Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek. "If I'm a fan, then I'm down to work on it, and this doesn't just apply to Castlevania, this is a general way I approach everything," he told Glixel in an interview back in March.
