'God Of War', 'Uncharted: Lost Legacy' and 'The Last Of Us 2' are sure bets, but what else is Sony planning?
The run of giant showcase events is nearly drawing to a close with Sony's huge PlayStation live event scheduled to start at 6pm PT tonight (the last big one of the week in Nintendo's tomorrow morning). Sony has already spilled the beans on how well the PlayStation 4 and PSVR headset is doing ahead of E3, so it's focus during the live event will be entirely on games.
Expect to see much more of Santa Monica Studios' God of War reboot, along with Uncharted: Lost Legacy, Insomniac's original Spider-Man game (it's not based on Homecoming), and David Cage's Detroit: Become Human along with a big push for zombie survival game, Days Gone from Sony's Bend Studio. Also more on Destiny 2, Call of Duty WWII and Star Wars Battlefront 2 – all of which are games that have promotional partnerships with Sony lined up for later this year. There's also an outside chance that we'll see a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer as well. Sony's Shawn Layden told us last month that Rockstar and Take-Two are partnering with the PlayStation team to promote the game – but given that it's now been pushed back to Spring 2018, there's always a chance we may have to wait.
In terms of Beyond Good & Evil 2-style "holy shit" reveals tonight – the rumor seems to be that there's a proper sequel to Shadow of the Colossus in the works.
