Games Done Quick is raising money for a cancer charity by blazing through your favorite games
Speedrunning is a hardcore hobby at the best of times. Racing though old and new games at upsetting speeds, all while the clock runs against you? Now imagine doing that as part of a huge speedrunning marathon with thousands of eyeballs on you. That's exactly what Games Done Quick is doing to raise cash for The Prevent Cancer Foundation, and it's streaming it all on Twitch.
The schedule is intimidating, a roster of participants will leave scorch marks across your favorite games until the finale next Saturday. Fallout: New Vegas, Batman: Arkham City, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Undertale are just a tiny selection of the titles that will be sacrificed on the altar of speed. To give you an idea of the pace of the action Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has just a ten minute slot on the schedule, and so does The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword? Just five minutes.
Anyone can donate and all the money raised goes directly to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. More than $250,000 has been raised so far.
